Which sim racing games work on Mac? Force feedback compatibility list

We’ve tested more than 40 racing and driving games on Apple Silicon Macs. Over 25 of them run through CrossOver with full force feedback from Torqer. The rest either run without working FFB yet, run but have no FFB at all (the game itself doesn’t support it), or don’t run on a Mac today.
For each game, we check three things separately: does it run on a Mac, do the wheel and pedals work, and does force feedback work. Most compatibility lists stop at the first one, which is the least useful answer when you own a wheel.
Search your game below to see its status, the caveats, and how to set it up.

What the statuses mean
- FFB verified: the game runs on an Apple Silicon Mac through CrossOver, with steering, pedals and force feedback working. Wheel support varies by model, so check yours with the wheel checker.
- Runs, FFB not working yet: the game starts and plays, but force feedback doesn’t reach the wheel yet. We retest them with each CrossOver release.
- Runs, game has no FFB: the game plays fine, but it has no force feedback on any platform, Windows included. Nothing on the Mac side can add it.
- Doesn’t run yet: the game won’t start in CrossOver today, or can’t run on macOS at all.
Why some racing games don’t work on Mac
When a game fails, it’s almost always for one of these reasons:
- Anti-cheat. Kernel-level anti-cheat only runs on Windows, and it blocks the game from starting inside CrossOver. This rules out most online-first sims, and no FFB tool can work around it.
- The game won’t launch in CrossOver yet. Project Motor Racing, Wreckfest 2, SnowRunner and Farming Simulator 25 fall here in our tests.
- The wheel shows up as a gamepad. Need for Speed Heat runs, but it sees the wheel as a controller, so the game never sends force feedback.
- The game has no force feedback. Trackmania, art of rally and RV There Yet? play well on a Mac, with steering only. That’s how they work on Windows too.
Can I play Le Mans Ultimate, iRacing or Forza on Mac?
Three of the biggest sims on Windows don’t run on a Mac today.
Le Mans Ultimate
Le Mans Ultimate doesn’t start in CrossOver in our tests, and CodeWeavers’ own compatibility database rates it “Installs, Will Not Run”. Its anti-cheat is the likely blocker. If you want endurance racing with force feedback on a Mac today, rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione both work.
iRacing
iRacing is clear about it: “iRacing can not run on the Mac operating system” (iRacing support). Its suggested workaround, Boot Camp, only exists on Intel Macs, so it’s no help on Apple Silicon. For online racing with force feedback, Assetto Corsa works, and you can host your own Assetto Corsa server to race with friends.
Forza Horizon 5
Forza Horizon 5 isn’t on our verified list yet. CodeWeavers lists it as “Limited Functionality”, and recent user reports describe it failing to launch. For open-world driving with a wheel, BeamNG.drive and The Crew 2 both work with force feedback.

How we test
Games are tested on Apple Silicon Macs in a Windows 10 64-bit CrossOver bottle with D3DMetal and MSync enabled, mostly from Steam, with Logitech, Moza, Fanatec, Thrustmaster and other wheels.
A game only counts as FFB verified when steering, pedals and force feedback all work on track: menus alone don’t count. CrossOver updates can change what works, so games get retested after them.
How to get force feedback in these games
- Install CrossOver and create a Windows 10 64-bit bottle.
- Install Steam (or the game’s launcher) in that bottle, then install the Windows version of the game there.
- Download Torqer and plug in your wheel.
- Quit CrossOver completely and keep it closed. In Torqer, open the Install FFB page and click Install next to your bottle.
- Open CrossOver again, select your bottle, launch Steam, then the game. If the game also has a Mac version (Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator), launch the Windows one from the bottle: the Mac version has no force feedback.
- Set up your wheel in the game’s controls.
Force feedback is part of Torqer Pro: a $12 / 10€ lifetime license, with a 5-day free trial. Using Sikarugir instead of CrossOver? Follow our Sikarugir setup guide.
FAQ
Can I play sim racing games on a MacBook Air?
Yes: CrossOver and Torqer run on any Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). How smooth a game runs depends on the game and your Mac’s chip, so older or lighter sims are the safer bet on a MacBook Air. Turning on Game Mode helps.
Do native Mac versions of racing games have force feedback?
Not reliably. The native Mac versions of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator don’t give force feedback, and SnowRunner’s Mac version lost it too. That’s why we run the Windows versions through CrossOver.
Will you add support for my game?
Often, if the game has force feedback on Windows and runs in CrossOver. Search it in the checker above: if it isn’t listed, tell us and we’ll test it.
If your game isn’t covered here, you can contact us.
